Fairies are social beings ruled by a King and a Queen. Their food diet consists mainly of fruits, vegetables, milk and honey (Narvaez 1997). They don’t eat meat since they associate blood with meat. Fairy food is prohibited for humans. Red foods and mushrooms are taboo. Should they get tempted and decide to eat it then they just made a bite of misfortune making them unable to return to the human civilization again. Old folks believed that food put out at night for the fairies should not be eaten afterwards by man or animals otherwise they will contract unexplainable illnesses. A little food left out in the kitchen for them at night must have no salt in it because fairies hate salts. Fairies also require food and sleep. They are also liable to disease and can be killed. Fairies love banquets of roots of silverweeds, stalks of heather, milk of red deer and goats, barley meal, bread, mushrooms, honey and dew.
